Grace I. Perry

July 28, 1920 — October 24, 2009

Grace Isobel Perry, beloved wife of the late George S. Perry, died of natural causes Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital Hospice Center.
- Grace was born July 28, 1920 in Medford, Massachusetts to Gordon and Agnes Tait. She grew up during the Great Depression and studied hairdressing to help support her family and her older brother's education. On March 11, 1945 she married George S. Perry and moved to Kansas where he served with the Army Air Corps. Eventually, they returned to Massachusetts to start their family with a son, George, and a daughter, Linda. When George was transferred to Concord, N.H., they moved to Nashua, N.H. to be close to their Boston relatives. They stayed in Nashua until 2000 when they moved to Hamilton, MT to be closer to their daughter, Linda. Grace and George enjoyed 62 years of marriage before George's death in June, 2007.
Grace was an energetic and outspoken woman who lived her life to the fullest. In many ways she was the family matriarch and cared for those around her when help was needed. She enjoyed bowling, bridge, and a 4 o' clock vodka and tonic with her friends. No one who knew her would hesitate to describe her as feisty.
Grace remained active within a few weeks of her death. She attended her granddaughter's wedding in Maryland in October, 2008, where she danced the night away and flew back again in September, 2009 to meet and hold her new great-grandson.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Linda Perry Turner, of Hamilton, Montana, her son, George Robert Perry of Glenwood, Maryland, her granddaughter, Jennifer Perry Gallagher, of Columbia, Maryland, and her great-grandson, Brennan Patrick Gallagher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Gordon Tait, and her sister Louise Gautreau.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be sent to Marcus Daly Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 1200 Westwood Drive, Hamilton, MT 59840.
