Jane E. Mears

Jane E. Mears, 88 of Hamilton passed away Monday, November 26th at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice Center in Hamilton.
She was from May 2, 1924 in Brockton hospital, Brockton, Mass to William and Gladys Waite Kuplast. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1942.
During her school years she enjoyed being in camp fire girls, rainbow girls, and many activities in church. After school she worked at a candy store, eventually becoming night manger there and wrapping the day's money and depositing in the banks night depository.
After graduation from High
School, she went to work as an operator for New England Telephone Co.
In 1944, she met and married Roy G. Mears in So. California. The union produced two wonderful sons, Roy William and Steven Lee. She was a stay at home mom for many years until both sons were High School age.
In California she went to work for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph. She worked in Santa Monica in Long Distance information in Hawthorne, California and became a supervisor and teacher. She really enjoyed teaching classes. She also worked in San Pedro, California. She retired from the Telephone company after twenty seven years. Roy retired from the U.S. Postal Service two years later and they started traveling to different countries overseas. They really enjoyed it very much.
In 1983, they sold their home in California and moved to Montana. They fell in love with Montana and decided this was the place they wanted to spend the rest of their lives.
Jane enjoyed reading, knitting, crochet and gardening.
Most of all she loved her family, friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roy; parents, William D. and Gladys Waite Kulpast; brothers, William, John and Richard F. Kulpast and a sister Ann.
She is survived by her sons, Roy William (Elsie) of Darby, MT and Steven Lee (Joan) of Maryland; grandchildren, Dr. Roy O., Vanessa, Jon, Kristen, Carolyn and 6 great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Weston and Brock Jones of Darby, Rodger Brown of Conner, Dr. Roy O. Mears of Grand Junction, CO, Roy W. Mears of Darby and Steven L. Mears of Maryland.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to MDM Hospice, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840.
