Janet A. Eckerman

HAMILTON, MT - Janet A. Eckerman, 78, of Hamilton passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Marcus Daly Hospice and Palliative Care center. She was born June 22, 1931 in Norton, Kansas, daughter of the late William H. Arehart and Beulah B. Arehart, and sister to 2 elder brothers and 2 elder sisters.

Janet "Jan" was raised in Denver Colorado and spent most of her life in the Denver area until she moved to the Bitterroot Valley in 1993 with her husband, "Tommy" Eckerman, who passed on in 2003.

In Jan's career, she worked many years at Sears and at Intermountain REA in the Denver area. Since moving to Hamilton, Jan has been active member in the Marcus Daly Auxiliary. She was a strong advocate for animal rights and had a deep love for all animals, especially her cat "Tuffy". Throughout her life, Jan also cared for and adopted many animals in need of human kindness.

Jan is survived by her three children, Sheri Heedum of Denver, Marilyn Morris of Hamilton, and Ronald Hebert of Denver. Jan was also blessed with three wonderful grandchildren, Nicole Ulibarri, Ojai CA, Amy Hebert, Denver CO, and Erik Ulibarri, Littleton CO. Jan also leaves behind many fine friends whom she loved dearly.
