Janet Johnson

VICTOR - Janet Marion Zwickey Johnson was born on April 2, 1935 in Minnesota and passed away January 16, 2025 in Hamilton MT at Bitterroot Health Hospital with family by her side. The last couple years she has fought a courageous fight consisting of 2 strokes, a broken neck and finally pneumonia.

She was born and raised in Minnesota where she met her husband Lester Johnson and they later married. They adopted their daughter Susanne in 1970 and had a son Eric in 1971. In 1979 Eric passed away due to an accident. They then became part of Compassionate Friends and helped other families who had lost children. Janet was great at helping families cope with the loss of children. In 1980 they built a house in Victor and she resided there until she had her 2nd stroke. They were very involved in Churches around the valley and taught some Sunday School classes. Janet enjoyed going to Corvallis School and reading to the students and listening to them read to her.  She was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and loved helping out at the schools.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Lester Johnson; son Eric Johnson; her parents, Clifford and Susan Zwickey; brother John “Jack” Zwickey; sister Florence (Joseph) Boxmeyer. Janet is survived by her daughter Susanne Stover (Phil), grandchildren Jennifer Johnson (Shane), Nicole McCollum (Richard), Jesse Harrison (Jordan) and Megan Stover. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Eric, Sarah, Sierra, and William and she was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first great-great granddaughter in April. Nieces Christine (Richard) Scriber, nephews Peter Boxmeyer, James (Carolyn) Boxmeyer, John (Lydia) Boxmeyer, and Paul (Kimberly) Boxmeyer; and many cousins.
