November 17, 1930 — May 6, 2009

Janice Adele (Humble) Anderson, 78 of (Darby/Hamilton) passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Hamilton.

Jan was the only child of Lawrence and Elizabeth Humble and the sweetheart for 59 years of Walter Anderson. Born and raised in Hamilton graduating in 1948 and graduated from Western MT College in Dillon in 1950. Mom met dad at college and to the end could tell stories about being the wife of a ball player. They moved to Brockton and Poplar to begin their teaching careers. While there Laurie Jo was born. Home to the Bitterroot valley they came settling in Darby with teaching/coaching jobs. Along came Tim and Tom and as dear friend Edna Zilla said: Jan forgot to take the pill and now we have Jill. Mom loved her 5th grade classes from a.m. exercises with lummy sticks to exploring the world with food. Then she and dad retired from teaching and gassed up the motor home and headed for Mesa, AZ. Many, many friends were there and old friends from high school days were found to also be Snowbirds. Mom took up the keyboard, clogging, swimming exercises and together they designed and made stained-glass stepping stones to the delight of all who are now in possession of them. After Snowbird, retirement home would now be in Hamilton. Renewing acquaintances, and card games, which mom was able to do several times while in Hospice, and making animal-shaped jigsaw puzzles which adorned the walls at home and then in Hospice. Her sweetheart for 59 years stayed with her many hours each day, also to be seen in her room were dear friends making weekly visits.

Mom to Laurie (Guy) Ellis of Darby, Tim (Sandra) of Drummond, Tom in Hamilton, and Jill (Jeff) Merkel of Hettinger, ND. Grandma to Nicole (Townsend), Mike (Stacy), Joshua (Amanda), Jordan (Dustin), Tessa (Blaine), Mac (Jesse), Ross and Tara. Great grandma to Berkley, Torrin, Ruger, Will and Klaira.
