Janice "Jan" Huston

CORVALLIS - Janice "Jan" Huston, 71, of Corvallis passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at her home from cancer. She was born September 2, 1938 in Oxford, Great Britain the daughter of Arthur and Olive Hainge.
Jan was raised in Oxford and enjoyed gardening with her father, flying with her brother Jim and taking walks and listening to music with her brother David. She learned the art of cooking and proper etiquette from her mother. As a young teenager, Jan worked for Coca-Cola and did photographic modeling for Coke. She also entertained (sang) at America bases in Great Britain. Jan did guest spots with the Glen Miller and Roy Anthony Big Bands.
At the age of 20, Jan traveled by ship to the United States where she met and married Jim Cooper and they had four daughters; Simone, Kim, Jackie and Dani. All four daughters would always say, "My mom is my best friend."
In 1976 she met and married Rich Huston and added Jim and Sharon Huston to her family. Rich and Jan traveled to Great Britain, Japan, Germany, Hong-Kong, the Philippines and Mexico. One of the most memorable trips was on the QE-2 to Great Britain and then returning on the Concorde.
Jan and Rich lived in Huntington Beach and Indian Wells, CA. In 1999 they moved to Montana living in Hamilton and then Corvallis. Jan loved the Valley and never wanted to leave. She also loved to knit, she was a gourmet cook and loved "PLAYING THE MACHINES." Jan was great at most everything, especially being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Richard Huston, of Corvallis; her children, Simone McPherson of Hamilton, Kim Stone of Corvallis, Jacquelyn Dearborn of Las Vegas, NV, Danielle Pierce of Hamilton, James Huston of Ramona, CA and Dr. Sharon Huston of Carlsbad, CA; 2 brothers, David Hainge and James Hainge both of Oxford, Great Britain; sons-in-law, Scott Pierce and Henry McPherson both of Hamilton; daughter-in-law, Trish Huston of Ramona, CA; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Jan's name to the Marcus Daly Hospice, 1200 Westwood Drive, Hamilton, MT 59840.
