Jean R. Mcpheron

HAMILTON - Jean R. (Miller) McPheron, 90, of Hamilton, passed peacefully at her home on March 26, 2015. She was born on October 3, 1924 in Columbus, OH, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ada (Pletcher) Miller. She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, John Knox McPheron, whom she married on August 30, 1944 in Columbus, OH; their four children, Beverly Haselhorst (Keith), Janet Aldrich (Robert), Barbara Gilfillan (Robert) and Douglas (Candace), 9 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and her miniature schnauzer, Sarah.

Jean graduated from North High School and studied at Ohio State University before joining her husband in Pensacola, FL for his navy training. After World War II, the McPherons resided in various states including Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. They made their final move to Hamilton, Montana in 1999. Mom was a dedicated wife and mother but she also enjoyed working outside the home. She was a hard worker and known to be a perfectionist. Her family will miss her quick wit and the twinkle in her soft brown eyes.

Mom was always up for a road trip. Many was the time she would pack up four small children in the station wagon to accompany Dad on business trips. In later years, she was a starring member of the "Happy Campers" as she travelled the West with Dad, Barb and Gil.

As her children, we remember our mother as someone who always played with us. She was great at cartwheels, basketball and board games. The grandchildren all knew Grandma was always available for reading, walking the beach and a game of Connect 4.

This fall, Mom celebrated her 90th birthday and 70th wedding anniversary with her loving husband, John.

We bid Mom goodbye with all our love and are thankful we had her for so many wonderful years.

Our family wishes to thank the staff of the Discovery Care Centre for their compassionate and loving care. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Marcus Daly Home Health for all their kind help in the final weeks.
