SPOKANE, WA formerly of HAMILTON - Jean Marie (Mitchell) Hedges, age 53, entered the presence of the Lord, September 18, 2020, at her home in Spokane, Washington.
Jean Marie Mitchell was born January 21, 1967, in Hamilton, Montana, to William and Karen (Barringer) Mitchell. She joined a brother, Jim, to make the family complete. She took her first backcountry trip before she was in kindergarten. She could often be found sitting on her horse, while he mowed the lawn. Jean never lost her love of being outdoors.
She attended Grantsdale grade school, where she brought home from the school cooks, a zucchini bread recipe that is still a favorite today. Then on to West View Junior High, and graduated from Hamilton High School, in 1985.
Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her savior, during a Lundstrom Crusade, that had come to Hamilton. She was baptized in the Bitterroot River. She finished Kinman Business School, in Spokane, returned to Hamilton and worked at the courthouse.
In 1989, she and her daughter, moved to Washington, and Jean worked in Spokane, for Ross Printing Company. She loved to travel and see new places. Jean and Nichole took trips to the Oregon coast and the Bahamas. With Bonnie, she went to Arizona, and she took her mother to Utah. Later, she moved on to work for Sonderan Packing Company. It was there she met a co-worker, Dave Hedges, and the two were married, in 2005. She inherited more family, which she loved.
They were able to take many trips. They visited California, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Alaska, Florida, Canada, Hawaii, Niagara New York City, and Boston. Jean loved meeting the local people and learning their customs. She enjoyed the volunteer work she was able to do. Helping single mothers, baking for cancer patients, delivering meals with her granddaughters to deserving families and anywhere she saw need.
Her smile would light up any place she was.
Jean is survived by her husband, Dave; daughter, Nichole; granddaughters, Adaya, Aurora, and Saraya; parents, Bill and Karen; brother and sister-in-law, James and Bonita Mitchell; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Jehovah Jirah - The God who provides” just as He provided yesterday, He will provide today and tomorrow. He grants deliverance from sin, the oil of joy for the ashes of sorrow and eternal citizenship in His kingdom for all those adopted into His household, as Jean was.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, May 31, 2021, at the Grantsdale Cemetery. A reception will follow at Bill and Karen’s residence, 180 Meadowlark Lane, Hamilton. Everyone is welcome, and there is plenty of room, please bring your own chair as seating is limited.
