Jean E. Stein

April 20, 1953 — June 16, 2024

Hamilton

Jean Stein, 71 of Hamilton passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at her home.

She was born to Daniel David Biederman and Irene Sylvia (Knox) Biederman on April 20, 1953, in Sycamore, IL. At age 4, Jean, her parents and older brother, David, moved to CA., as advised by the family doctor because Jean had bad allergies. Doctor Eggers said that the weather in CA. would be better for her health. On the trip west they visited Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. The family settled in Anaheim where at one house they were so close to Disneyland that on Saturday evenings in summer, could see Tinkerbell slide from the Matterhorn to the castle, from their driveway. In her 6th grade year, the family moved to Chula Vista, which was a quiet little town back in the mid 1960's. She graduated from Hilltop High School, then attended Southwestern Jr. College for 1 ½ years. Jean's parents divorced while she was in high school and with that her wonderful step-dad, Ray Cox joined the family. Jean got married and had 3 children. She moved to Williamsville, NY. Jean later got divorced and moved the children and herself to Hamilton, MT., to live near her parents, Irene and Ray. It was there that she met and dated Dale Stein for 20 years. The couple were married on Feb. 21, 2004. Dale and Jean spent their remaining years doing such things as fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, 3 cruises and many great family reunions with Dale's family in Enterprise, Oregon. Jean spent several years participating in Eastern Star. She retired from working at a local brokerage firm which allowed her and Dale to travel and enjoy their large, combined family. She loved sewing/quilting and lunches with mom. Jean's brother, David, turned her onto kayaking, so many summer days you could find her and sister Barbara kayaking at Como Lake and enjoying their shore-side lunches.

Jean felt very blessed to have such wonderful family and friends and cherished each and every one of them. Through marriage, she felt blessed to have such a large extended family. Survivors include Dale and his 3 children, Wanda, Eva and Brenda, their spouses, children and many grand and great-grandchildren: Jean's son Benjamin and his beautiful wife Kateland (my awesome grandchildren "Emma, Riker, Ryeitt and Riggs"). Jean also leaves behind special sisters Barbara and family, Cathy and Pat and many special friends. Jean is preceded in death by Dad-Daniel, Mom-Irene and her only sibling, David, his son, wife and precious twins- Maegan and Hailey. No funeral service is requested but wants you to raise your favorite drink for a toast to the great memories you shared with her! Please feel free to make any donations to Spokane Children's Shriners Hosp. or St. Jude's.

And yes-I, Jean had a blast writing this to share with you all
