Jeannine S. Winter, age 88 passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at her home on Grantsdale after a courageous fight with cancer; with her daughter, Bonnie, by her side.

Jeannine was born in Santa Barbara, California to Fredrick and Thelma Pons. She was raised in the Hollywood Hills in the community of Silver Lake with her dear sister, Darlene. ( pictured above) She attended John Marshall High School and graduated in 1956. She married Allen England and had their daughter Bonnie in 1957. In the 60’s and 70’s there was a lot of family, friends and travel around Santa Monica where they eventually lived. In 1999 Bonnie and her son, Trevor, moved to Corvallis, Mt. and Jeannine and husband, George followed in 2007.

In Montana, Jeannine felt like she was finally home. She loved her home and shared it with her mother before her mother’s passing. She thoroughly enjoyed her garden and flowers and loved showing them to anyone who came to visit. She liked to stay busy so to enhance her Montana history, she volunteered at the Daly Mansion where she met many of her closest friends. She tried her hand at business, opening, Our Shop on Main. She was creative and professional, although she probably talked more to customers than she sold to them.

Jeannine will be missed for her infectious laughter, her staunch political beliefs, and her unquestionable loyalty to her friends. But mostly she will be remembered for her concern and love for her family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandson and great grandchildren. They were very special to her.

Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Freddy Pons,

T. Billie Stotts, George Winter, and her beloved sister, Darlene Whitt (Aunt Konkie ) , along with various uncles, aunts and cousins.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Jean Thurman, her grandson Trevor England, and wife, Isabelle of Ray, North Dakota and their families: Aava Nelson, Aria Nelson, Rory, Harley and Arabella Clementine, and Theodore England. Also, the families of Melissa Winter, Kristin and Joseph Winter, David Arguelles, Jennifer and Brandon Arguelles. Kathleen and Roger Vreelann. Also, the many friends with whom she shared books and laughter.

The family would especially like to thank Hospice and the caregiver, Aleena Stephens. May she be blessed for the deep and tender care she gave Jeannine. You are truly special, and the working hands of the Lord.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Veterinary Clinic of Darby in memory of Jeannine’s 5 “weiner” dogs or the charity of your choice.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 11am at the Victor Cemetery.
