Jeremy Wilbert Yetter, 41 passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at his residence in Ashland, Montana. He was born October 26, 1971 to Jerome "Jerry" and Sandra "Sam" Yetter in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, joining the family which included his elder brother, Matthew. Diagnosed with Juvenile Onset, Type 1, Diabetes at the age of five, he battled the disease most of his life until it finally claimed him.
Although his family moved around quite a bit, the greatest part of his early years were spent on the farm near Clancy, Montana where he was home schooled. This provided him with the time and opportunity to explore God's great creation more fully. He and his horse, Babe, roamed the countryside daily, often with fishing pole, bow, or rifle in hand. Jeremy was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life, active in all outdoor sports but with a special love for hunting and fishing. He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and a certified scuba diver. At the age of 10 he won his first shooting medal with a borrowed black powder rifle. Both he and his brother were active in 4-H and the Boy Scouts of America. They were the only two Lone Scouts in the state of Montana at the time, and Jeremy attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14; a marked achievement both for his young age and for the fact that he had accomplished it without the help of a troop.
Attending public schools for the upper grades, Jeremy became active in the wrestling and baseball programs. He possessed a natural talent for working with his hands and developed skills in mechanics, metals and woodworking. He also discovered that he enjoyed cooking and baking. He graduated from Three Lakes High School in northern Wisconsin in 1990. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Plattville, studying to become a teacher.
In 1992, Jeremy spent a summer working in Yellowstone National Park, where he met Teri Lynn Buechler. They were married on November 14, 1992 in Dillon, Montana. The marriage was blessed with four children, Amanda Ellen, Luke Michael, Connor Patrick, and Danielle Austin.
His kind heart and easy-going nature endeared him to people of all ages and all walks of life. His desire to help others led him to become a firefighter graduating from Federal Heights Fire Academy, Federal Heights, CO. He then earned his EMT at Arapahoe Community College in 2000 and received Paramedic training from Red Rocks Community College in 2005. In 2011 he took classes at the University of Montana's College of Technology in Pre-Nursing.
His most recent years were at St. Labre Mission School and the Heritage Assisted Living Center in Ashland, Montana. He loved working with the children and elders of the North Cheyenne and Crow nations. He was thrilled to be privileged with a drum ceremony by the students of St. Labre and was especially proud and honored to become an adopted member of the North Cheyenne Nation at their Pow Wow this year.
He dearly loved the Lord and his family and doted on his children truly believing there to be none finer in the world. He was a family man and proud to be so blessed. He and his family could often be found geocaching on their various adventures.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Wilbert Yetter in 1971, and his maternal grandparents Ella May Wickham and Robert "Ike" Wickham, both in 2009.
Jeremy is survived by his wife, Teri of Hamilton with their two daughters, Amanda and Danielle and two sons, Luke and Connor; his parents Jerry and Sam Yetter of Dillon, his brother, Matthew, also of Dillon, and grandmother, Audrey Yetter, of Eagle River, WI.
