Jesse Lamar, 89 passed away in Lewistown on July 17th. He was born to Jesse and Nannie Norris Lamar on February 2, 1925 in Dearborn, Missouri. He was one of seven children.
After he graduated from High School he was drawn into the US Army and was sent to Okinawa for the next 2 years. After his honorable discharge in 1946 he enrolled at Lawrence University in Kansas City, MO where he obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering. While in college he married Ernestine Scheidt. From this marriage he bore 3 children, Julie, Phillip and Alan. They divorced 15 years later.
After Jess graduated from college he was hired by the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake, CA, he retired in 1976 after 50 years. While at China Lake, Jess received a Superior Accomplishment Award for, "Employing a Plurality of Dichroic Mirrors to produce a three-color image." He received a Patent Holding Award and an additional Patent Award from Washington D.C. He was part of the R and D of the Sidewinder Missile.
Jess married the love of his life, Isabel Bermejo from Sevilla, Spain in 1970. They lived in China Lake with son, Roland Lamar until retirement. He moved his family to Corvallis, MT where he resided for 34 years. Jess loved living, hunting and fishing in Montana. He will be greatly missed by his best friend and hunting partner, Dwight Finney and family.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Julie A. Lamar, brothers, William "Bill", Raymond and Leonard, sisters, Esther and Fern.
He is survived by his wife Isabel of Hamilton; sons, Phillip (Cindy) Lamar of Seattle, Alan (Carol) Lamar of Darby and Roland (Kellee) Lamar of Hamilton; grandsons, Kevin Lamar of Seattle and Michael Lamar of Los Angeles; granddaughter, Kimberly Lamar of Missoula; sister, Edith Ross of Kansas City, MO; special niece, Nancy Fisher of Mesa, AZ and many other nieces and nephews.
