Joan Irene Cox

Joan Irene Cox, 67, of Corvallis, Montana passed away July 3, 2009 at the Marcus Daly Hospital, in Hamilton, Montana after a hard battle with cancer.

Joan was born March 20, 1942 in San Pedro, California to Agnes and Calvin Rasmussen. Joan attended school in Magalia and Paradise California.

On October 20, 1957 Joan married James Cox in Reno, Nevada. Joan and Jim built their first house in DeSabla, California. Joan and Jim had two daughters, Robyn and Cheryl, and a son, James. In 1969 the family moved to a small home in Charlos Heights, Montana. In 1973 they moved into a home they built in the Bitterroot Valley and began ranching.

Joan was always interested in writing and in 1976 she had her first of two science fiction novels published. Her curiosity led her to into the study of astrology and writing horoscope charts which over the years she found to be quite helpful in counseling friends, family and others. Joan also worked as a bailiff and clerk for the Ravalli County Justice Court.

She is survived by her husband James; her daughters and son-in-laws, Robyn and Gary McBride, Cheryl and Tim Hadley; son and daughter-in-law, James and Stephanie Cox; grandchildren, Daniel, Kimberly, Megan, Emma, Chrystien, and Cathryn; great-grandchild, Amelia; siblings, Ron Rasmussen, Bob Rasmussen, and Elaine Johnson; and her mother, Agnes Medsker.

Joan was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Rasmussen.

Joan was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, counselor and friend. Her enthusiasm for life and learning as well as the guidance she always shared will be missed by all. Hers was an extraordinary, influential and beautiful life.
