HAMILTON – John Arthur Raudsep, 74 of Hamilton passed away March 4th, 2022, in Hamilton, Montana. John was born on March 7, 1947, to Arnold and Margaret Raudsep in Gillette, Wyoming. The family moved to the Bitterroot in 1957 and bought a ranch on Fred Burr Creek. John attended Victor Schools, graduating in 1966. He entered the U.S. Navy and served for 12 years, serving on Submarines, USS Sam Houston, and USS Sargo. He attended college at the University of Idaho, receiving a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was employed at the Idaho Engineering Labs, working for several different companies as well as the SAIC consulting firm. After moving back to Montana, he worked for the State Environmental Quality Department, in Helena until retirement. He was a past commander of Bitterroot VFW post 1430, selling many a poppy for Veterans causes, a member of the Idaho Falls Knights of Columbus, and several golf and bowling leagues. His happiest accomplishment in life was becoming Grandpa to Lexi and Caleb, whom he loved dearly and spoiled non-stop. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeremy; and sister, Nancy Maday. Surviving him are his son, John; grandchildren, Alexa and Caleb; sister, Francis Ayres; nieces, Debbi, Tracy, Melissa, and Miranda; ex-wife and friend, Margaret Ohl; and extended family, The Golays. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Monday, May 9, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. in the Corvallis Cemetery.
