Joseph Warren Tredik

Joseph Warren Tredik, age 87, passed from this life Saturday, June 30, at his home in Hamilton. He had battled a prolonged illness with severe complications. His family was at his side.
Joe was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, April 23, 1925, the son of Joseph and Pauline (Bennett) Tredik. Soon after his graduation from Abraham Clark High School, he enlisted in the Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II, in Okinawa and Tinian.
After discharge from the Navy, he enrolled in Montana State University graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. While in college, he met and was married to Amelia (Amy) Labash, in Livingston, Montana, June 17, 1949. They moved to Washington D.C. to be employed by the U.S. Bureau of Standards in the guided missile division. The unit was transferred to Norco, California. He subsequently was employed by Convair in Pomona, California in missile research and design. In 1955, he began employment with General Electric X-ray in Denver, Colorado. His work required transfers to Spokane, Washington; Missoula, Montana; Portland, Oregon; and Seattle, Washington.
In 1967, he and his family returned to Missoula. In association with Henry Murray, he became a real estate appraiser. He was an MAI in the Institute of Real Estate Appraising and worked in Missoula, Bigfork, and for the U.S. Forest Service in Glacier and Yellowstone Parks, until his retirement in 1986.
Joe enjoyed life, his family, photography, fishing, golf, and his many years of singing barbershop harmony with the Rocky Mountainairs. He and Amy traveled extensively and the memories and photographs are a cherished legacy.
His parents, his brother Robert, and his grandson, Loren Robert Tredik preceded his in death. His survivors include his wife, Amy; daughter, Linda (Doug) Merchant, daughter, Janice Tietz, son, Joseph Paul (Nancy) Tredik, all of Missoula, Son-in-law, Arlyn Tietz of Lewiston, Idaho, son, Craig (Diane) Tredik of Hamilton; Grandchildren, Justin (Kendra) Tietz of Caldwell, Idaho, Nicolas (Sharon) Merchant of Tucson, Arizona, Joseph M Tredik; Renee' (Chad) Price, and Christi (Sean) Morris, all of Missoula, Cody, Mason, and Spencer Tredik of Hamilton; Great Grandchildren, Kayla Tietz, Carter and Madison Price, and Jacob and Hailey Morris.
Joe, what a joy it has been to have shared our lives with you, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and wonderful friend.
