MISSOULA - Joshua “Josh” DeWayne Johnson, Sr., age 48, passed away early Sunday morning, November 2, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born and raised in Missoula, Montana, Josh was a true Montana soul — hardworking, loyal, and full of heart. A self-employed contractor, he could build just about anything, from decks and remodels to flooring installations. But more than anything, Josh built connections. He was a “Josh-of-all-trades,” always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, and make everyone feel like family.

Josh met the love of his life, Nicole, more than two decades ago. Together for nearly 22 years, they celebrated their union on February 29, 2024 — a day as rare and special as their love. His greatest joys were his children, Jerika, Ryelee, and Joshua “Jay” Jr., and his granddaughter, Rosalyna. He is also survived by his beloved furbaby Ruger; mother-in-law Vicky; uncle Monte (Charlotte); brothers Jason (Katie) and Justin; sister Rita (Keith); sisters-in-law Missy and Cynthia (Jim); fur-nieces Leia and Orla; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Taylor; mother Trina; father-in-law Clarence; and grandparents Darrel and Janice — all of whom surely welcomed him home with open arms.

Josh never met a stranger — everyone was a friend, and for many, he was family. Whether working with his hands, cheering for the Raiders, or admiring a Harley from afar, Josh lived with purpose, humor, and love.

A celebration of Josh’s life will be held May 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Westside Lanes in Missoula. Guests are encouraged to wear purple, Harley Davidson, Raiders gear, or anything that reminds them of him. We will celebrate his life, his laughter, and the love he shared — a love that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
