Joyce L. Stimpson, 90 of Victor passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022 at her home due to natural causes.
She was born February 9, 1932 in Sacramento, CA. Joyce married Martin Ivan Atwood in 1948; they had four children: Sammy, Richard, Craig and Renee. The lived in California until 1958 when the family moved to Montana.
After moving to Montana, she was a service worker at several bars and restaurants in the Bitter Root Valley for over 28 years. Many friends were made throughout those years. Her ceramics won her many awards at the fair, including a first place.
Cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles and dancing were some of Joyce’s favorite pastimes. Her love for her children and animals was never ending. Joyce’s faith in the Lord grew stronger throughout the years.
In 1977, she married Dick Stimpson.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Moorman Sr. and Georgia Mields; brother, Ralph Moorman Jr. and sons, Sammy Atwood and Craig Atwood.
She is survived by her son Richard Atwood; daughter, Renee (Joe) Harris and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers are: Roger Vaneps, Mike Atwood, Charlie Atwood, Brent Baldwin, Kevin Lindahl and Paul Neustrom.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Daly-Leach Chapel. Private burial will take place at Corvallis Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to either the Bitterroot Humane Association or Disabled Veterans.
