Our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Julia Geraldeen Terry-Hamby, passed away on February 25, 20013. Mom was born in Perma, MT on May 21, 1924 to Delbert Davenport and Kathryn Stout.
The family later moved to her Grandfather's (H.H. Davenport's) ranch on Indian Prairie near Victor. Julie attended grade school at the old Curlew School and later Stevensville Elementary. She graduated from Stevensville High School in 1942. After high school graduation, she attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, WA.
Julie married her high school sweetheart, Robert Terry, on February 28, 1943. After Bob returned from serving in the war, they lived and worked on her grandfather's ranch where her daughters, Judy and Dona were born. They later built their own home nearby where their daughter Laurie and son David were born.
Mom worked at Farmers State Bank in Victor and then Citizens State Bank in Hamilton where she retired after twenty-five years of service. She and Bob then bought a ranch west of Victor where they raised cattle. She and Bob were married almost fifty years when Bob passed away in October, 1991.
Mom was known for being a very hard worker and a wonderful cook. There was always someone at our house to eat and she welcomed all. She was a very kind and giving person who loved children, flowers, birds, gardening and horses. She was a member of the Victor Federated Church.
In November, 2009 she married Robert Hamby. They were very active at the Victor Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years.
Mom is survived by four children; Judy (Jack) Gillespie of Townsend, Dona Terry of Victor, Laurie Kerekes of Conroe, TX and son David (Julie) Terry of Victor: Ten grandchildren; Rob Gillespie, Doug Gillespie, Brad Gillespie, Krissy Gillespie Nunn, Scott Blahnik, Gina Blahnik-Elliott, Paul Morales, Yany Nikoletopoulos, Melissa Terry and Donald Terry. She also has twenty-one great grandchildren: husband Bob Hamby of Victor: brother Terry Davenport, Raneid Patrick, and Bobbi Schurian as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Terry and brother Vernon Davenport.
As to Mom's wishes, there will be no services and interment will be at the Victor Cemetery next to her first husband Bob Terry. Mom we love and miss you so much. Rest in eternal peace.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be given to Shodair Childrens Hospital in Spokane, WA or to St. Judes Childrens Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
A special thank you to all of the nurses and staff at the Living Center for their kindness and loving care to Mom, and to all of her special friends who loved and visited her, some daily. We will be eternally grateful.
