ARLEE - Julie Ann (Wineteer) Hitchcock, of Arlee, passed away from a long battle with COPD on January 3, 2023, at the age of 74.

Julie was born to Robert Wineteer and Arloene (Biltoft) Wineteer in Chadron, Nebraska on July 25, 1948. She is survived by her husband, Albert Louis Hitchcock; daughter, Lisa (Hitchcock) Kunze and husband, Mark Kunze of Malta; son, Brian Hitchcock; grandchildren: Kaitlyn ‘nee Kunze’ (Laremy) Young, Zachary (Shayah) Kunze, Jacob Kunze, Royce (Alana) Kunze, Allison Kunze; five great grandchildren; her sister, Maxine (Stephen) Donahue, and brother, Steven (Kathleen) Tallent. She was preceded in death by her mother, Arloene Lay; stepfather, Johnny Lay, and stepfather, George Tallent.

Julie’s family moved to Hamilton in the early 50s where she was raised and graduated high school in 1967. She met the love of her life Albert and was married November 2, 1968. They made their home in Missoula where they went on to raise two children. After starting out as a stay-at-home mom, she went to work at Kmart where she continued to work for 25 years before retiring at the age of 60. She loved all animals, helping her husband with their small ranch, doing crafts, baking, and working in her gardens.

Shortly after retirement she was diagnosed with COPD, which she struggled with for the remainder of her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, she always brightened when they came to visit. No matter how bad her health, she always worried about everyone but herself. She will be greatly missed and loved by all who met her.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Daly-Leach Chapel, Hamilton, MT, with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., and Julie’s interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
