June E. (Junie) Byers, 92 of Hamilton passed away Friday, December 26th at her daughter's home in Hamilton.
June was raised in the panhandle of Idaho, descendant of pioneer families. She was born to Blaine Otto Sams and Maggie Mary Satterfield on June 11, 1922 in Kendricks, ID. She left high school in 1939 to marry her lifetime companion, Harold Byers. A devoted mother to her 3 sons and one daughter, her family always came first.
When her children were raised and Harold (Buddie) retired from head-rig Sawyer in Montana Lumber Mills, they spent the next 20 years fishing the Ocean at Brookings and North Bend, Oregon. She was an avid fisherwoman, mountain hiker and supermom. They were also active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. After losing Bud in 2009, she maintained her own home and drove her own car until losing her heroic battle with cancer. Her memory is her children's example to try hard at whatever they undertake in life.
June is survived by her children, Mickey (Linda) Byers of Coos Bay, OR., Dennis (Debby) Byers of Martin City, MT., Monty Byers (Disabled Vietnam Veteran) of Lakewood, WA., and Gail Byers Shulund of Hamilton, MT; her children blessed her with 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and even several great great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to an Animal rescue organization of your choice.
