Larry Michael Lockhart Sr., 70, of the Bitterroot Valley, passed away peacefully at his home on September 26, 2025, while working on one of his favorite projects, his ponds. Known to many simply as “Larry Sr.” alongside his son “Larry Jr.,” or fondly "Big Larry" He was a true Bitterroot Valley legend whose presence, generosity, and spirit touched countless lives.
Born March 23, 1955, Larry lived a full, adventurous, and faith-filled life. He was the devoted husband of Bobbi Lockhart, his lifelong love of more than 50 years. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, love, and hard work. He is survived by his son Larry Charles “Jr.” Lockhart (Kellie), his daughter Christal Mousley (Trevor), and his beloved grandchildren Hadley Lockhart, Jayce Mousley, Cash Lockhart, Hayden Mousley, and Porter Lockhart. His family was his greatest joy and the center of his heart.
Larry’s passions were many. He loved hunting, playing guitar, and racing motorcycles—winning his last race at age 70. He was a lifelong Dodgers fan and a devoted student of the game of baseball, serving as head coach of the Bitterroot Red Sox and leading them to their first state championship.
A private family service will be held Wednesday. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lockhart residence on October 10th at 5:00 p.m. Friends and loved ones are invited to attend, and it will be a potluck gathering in honor of his love for food, fellowship, and community.
Larry will be remembered as a man of deep faith, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to many. His legacy will live on in his family, in the lives he touched, and in the valley he loved so dearly.
