Lenard Banks, 78 of Hamilton died Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Discovery Care Center in Hamilton.
Lenard was born April 12, 1934 in Ross Lake, Minnesota to David and Maggie Collins Banks. Lenard married Donna Banks and together they had 2 children, Robert Clyde and Jennifer Ann Banks. They later divorced and Lenard married Verna Flanary on December 19, 1973. Raised and educated in Minnesota he enlisted into the US Army and served in the Korean War. After being discharged he returned home to Minnesota. After a few months he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served until he was medically discharged. He was a truck driver for many years. He was an avid hunter and especially loved collecting guns.
Lenard was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Troy Carter Flanary; brothers, Herschel, Donald and Glen Banks, and sisters, Ethel Fefore, Jesiphene Palmer, Rosetta Kertzman, Marjorie Tottenhagen, Kathleen Snell, Delores Sullinger and Dora Patrick.
He is survived by his wife Verna M. Banks of Hamilton; 2 children, Robert Clyde Banks of Washington and Jennifer Ann Banks of Washington; 3 step-children, Marc (Colleen) Flanary of Chino Hills, UT and Laura (Richard) Erickson of Hamilton; sisters, Christine Leininger and Paulette Knutson, brother, Woodrow Banks, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A gathering for friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. at the family home, 1008 Skalkaho Hwy in Hamilton.
