Darby - Leo Dean May, 81, of Darby passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at his home.
Dean was born June 2, 1929 in Los Angeles, California to the late Leo Joseph and
Gretchen Christina (Reeder) May. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Los Angeles. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he began his career with the Pacific Telephone Company in Pasadena, CA. He married Barbara Diane Morrow in 1953 and together they had five children. After falling in love with Montana, he chose to take an early retirement in 1981 to live full-time in his beloved adopted state. Dean was a college football fanatic and loved to follow the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. When there wasn't a game in progress, he was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching the Big Sky clouds roll by from the usual spot on his deck.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers, Harold and Francis.
He is survived by brothers Joseph May of Burbank, CA., and Robert (Mary) May of Covina, CA., as well as his sister Marlene (Tom) Burke of Prescott, AZ.
He is survived by his daughters, Deana Marie May of Los Angeles, CA., Debra
Christine Turner of Canyon Country, CA., Donna Louise May Krieger (Jim) Pearson of Darby, MT., Dani Marlene (Steve) Munoz of Victorville, CA.; and son, David Leo May of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anthony del Rosario, Cory
Morales, Brian Ogle, John Ogle, Blake Ginsberg, Sarah Munoz, and Derek Munoz, all of California, and Dean Krieger of Darby, MT., as well as his great grandson, Tyler, also of California. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including his "like a son" nephew, Daniel (Wendy) May of Florence, MT.
Besides his family, Dean leaves behind his dearest friends Crystal Goudy of Carlsbad, CA., Marilyn Job, Marianne Nims, and Bob Witt, all of Hamilton, MT.
Dean touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service with private family urn placement has taken place. A memorial gathering and celebration of Dean's life is planned for a later date in California.
