CORVALLIS – Leonard Gene Raines, 76, of Corvallis passed away early Sunday morning, October 23, 2016 at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center.
Leonard was born June 8, 1940 in Hampton, Iowa, and then the family moved to California and then settled where his heart was in the Bitterroot Valley, where he enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and all of the outdoors. He was a mechanic by trade and a damn good one. Leonard was one of the original Ugly Guys advertisement for M & M auto. He enjoyed tinkering on all phases of automotive and woodworking up until health conditions prevented him.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Betty Raines; and his daughter, Cindy Raines Williams. He is survived by his wife, May Ann Pope of Corvallis; his brother, Skip Raines of Woodside; his sister, Carolee Foster of Ronan; his children, David Raines of Corvallis, Tom (Lynn) Raines of Rigby, ID, Bill Pope of California, James (Debbie) Pope of Corvallis, Jody Pope of Corvallis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made in Leonard’s name to Marcus Daly Hospice, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com. Leonard’s favorite saying was, “Have a good one”.
