Linda Lucille Springer

April 28, 1943 — November 18, 2013

Linda Lucille Springer passed away on November 18, 2013 at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 28, 1943 in Texarkana, TX to Alfred and Jessie Faye McEntire. The family lived in several states including California and Alaska until settling in the Bitterroot Valley in 1959 where she resided until her death. She was the only sister of four children and loved her brothers deeply.
On July 19, 1968, she married Pete Springer. Their life together was spent raising their children, working on their home and farm and enjoying life. Linda worked at Valley View for many years and truly cared for her patients. She was Hoyt Axton's caregiver in the last years of his life and developed quite a friendship with him. Her brother, Stanley, was also a recipient of her love and care after being rendered a quadriplegic following a logging accident in 1965.
Linda's yard was meticulous and she grew a variety of flowers and plants, especially the most beautiful roses one could ever see. She was a talented seamstress and loved to crochet. Always the gracious hostess, the Springer home was the gathering place for family as we celebrated many birthdays and get togethers there. She loved to laugh and her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
In April, 2012, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and fought a strong battle against it. She was able to stay in the home she loved up until her last days and had her family close at all times.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred, brother, Stanley, nephew, David, and mother, Jessie Faye.
She is survived by husband, Pete, son, Al McEntire, daughter Alice Mainwaring and husband, Jerry, son Dwayne Springer and wife Sharon, and daughter, Kimberly Rockwell and husband Clayton. Grandchildren, Cody Springer, Ashley Childress and Cody, Alyssa and Thomas Rockwell. Brother, Steve and wife Mary and brother, Danny and wife Diane. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to "Marcus Daly Hospice" at 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840.
