DARBY - Sometimes it doesn't matter if you have enough time to get ready to go home. Sometimes whether your son or daughter or brothers or sisters don't want you to leave yet, you're time to go has come. Loren was a free spirit who always lived life on his own terms.
Loren Tufton fought a very short battle with cancer before he was called away on Tuesday, April 7th, at his home in Darby, with his son Shane, brother Sweede, sister Lois, and sister-in-law Kaye at his side.
Loren was born to Christ and Clara Tufton on August 23rd, 1950, the 5th child in a family of eight. In school, his major interest was history, and he made maps and maps of the battles in World War II, and knew enough about the war to put any history teacher to shame. He attempted to pass his knowledge on to his two younger sisters, as they endlessly practiced how to belly crawl across the prairie and "keep their asses down" so they wouldn't be shot off.
Loren grew up in a hunting and fishing environment, and he carried out that tradition throughout his life. His solution in ridding the family of an extremely obnoxious rooster on the farm showed his unending desire to help solve problems, in a very creative manner. He passed that love to his son Shane, and they spent countless hours in the back country. He added panning for gold to the mix, and it became another of his life's passions.
Loren was very proud of his children from his marriage to Nora Petty. He
is survived by his daughter, Lacy and son, Shane; six granddaughters, two brothers, Jim (Pat) and Sweede (Kaye); three sisters, Edna (Paul Tkachyk), Lois, and Marial (Jim Hovet), many nieces and nephews and his close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Clara Tufton, his wife Nora, his brother Gene, and an infant brother.
Cremation has taken place, and the family plans a private service at a later date.
