MISSOULA - Louise Austin Cherry, 76, of Missoula, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Patrick's Hospital. She went to be with Jesus after a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Her daughters Janie and Ellen were by her side.
Louise was born September 13, 1933, in Baxter Springs, Kansas. She was the second of eight children.
Louise was a hard worker her entire life. She ran the Smoke House CafAC. in Salmon, Idaho for four years. In 1977, she moved to Corvallis, Montana where she and her husband Elmer owned and operated Cherry's Ranch House CafAC.. Louise was well known for her cooking and baking. Her pies and cinnamon rolls were especially customer favorites. She also enjoyed decorating cakes for many years.
Louise was a generous person and enjoyed helping people in any way she could. She especially loved her children and grandchildren and loved to spoil them whenever possible.
In 2000, after Louise and Elmer retired, they moved to Missoula where Louise enjoyed being able to pick up her grandson from school. She continued to enjoy baking and frequently gave away homemade bread, pies, cookies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls to anyone she could.
Louise was proceeded in death by her parents, Vern Austin and Katherine Madison; sisters, Ellen Austin and Juanita Mitchell; and husband Elmer Cherry.
She is survived by daughter Janie (Bob) Charles of Hamilton, Montana; son David (Elise) Jakovac of Boise, Idaho; daughter Ellen Cherry of Missoula, Montana; son Billy Cherry of Missoula, Montana; granddaughter Tracy Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandson Thomas (Christina) Charles of Chico, Texas; grandson Drake Jakovac of California; grandson A.J. Jakovac of Moscow, Idaho; grandson Dylan Cherry of Missoula, Montana; great-grandchildren Sierra Lykins and Patrick Charles. Also surviving are brother Gene (Donna) Austin of Salmon, Idaho; brother Dick (Janet) Austin of Salmon, Idaho; sister Linda (Oliver) Kerley of Galena, Kansas; sister Sandy Morris of Oregon; brother Bob (Shirley) Madison of Utah; step-children Carol (Denny) Davis, Elmer (Sandra) Cherry, Linda (Darryl) Shurtliff, Pam (Kenny) Meyers, Gary (Gail) Cherry, and numerous step-grand and great-grandchildren.
