Hamilton - Lowell Douglas Olin, 78, was born in Almont, North Dakota, on October 20,1942, on a farm that his parents, Pauline Olin-Lindstrom and Alvin Olin, owned. His father passed away, in 1993, in Everett, Washington. Lowell moved with his family to Hamilton, Montana, in 1952. Lowell was 9 years old at the time and grew up in Hamilton. He married Gail Chaffin, of Hamilton, and divorced in 1972, but continued to be the best of friends until she passed away, in 2013.
Lowell was a Contractor/Builder. That was his job… His real love was ranching, cattle, and haying. He was a rancher through and through, all the way until his passing. During his lifetime, he was an avid hunter. He also did a lot of outfitting, helping out his very good friends Don & Russ Able, Dan Rouse, and Dwain Rennaker. On horseback he explored many if not all of the canyons here in the Bitterroot Mountains. He loved the wilderness and would take/ make time to go out and explore and hunt with his best friends Mick Iten every chance he got.
He is survived by his mother Pauline Olin-Lindstrom (100 years old); his brothers, Glenn, Roger, and Jim; his sister, Cheryl, girlfriend and companion of 14 years, Eraina Baker, of Hamilton; children, Kathy, Julie, and Dan; grandchildren, Amber and Leia, Sophia and George Nevratakis and, Emily and Spencer Olin; great grandchildren: Robert and Austin Taylor, Isabella and Ava Wymore, Ayden and Elliot Reynolds.
