DARBY - Lucile Beckstrom Romney, 78, of Darby passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her home from complications due to Parkinson's Disease.
Lucile was born May 16, 1937 in Panguitch, UT to Kenneth Beckstrom and Sarah Irene Riggs. While young, she moved to California where she graduated from South Gate High School. There she met Randle Romney and they married for time and all eternity in the LDS St. George Temple on March 1, 1955.
Lucile's chosen career was being a homemaker to her 8 children, 43 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. She had the capacity to love beyond her own, taking into her home unwed mothers, newborn babies, and other children of various ages.
Lucile centered her life around her children and grandchildren and didn't miss an important event - birthdays, baptisms, marriages, sports and other things important to them. With her family she actively participated in fun activities, including waterskiing, horseback riding, snow skiing, backpacking, camping, and canoeing. She was athletic and participated in many sports including running several half marathons.
Lucile's membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provided the opportunity to serve in many youth programs, Relief Society, and Primary. In her later years, Lucile served with her husband on four missions taking them to Spain, Peru, Bolivia and Mexico. She learned Spanish and helped others in their native language with their family history and temple work.
Randle's career took the family from California to Utah to Montana. Upon retirement, Lucile helped build a beautiful log home in scenic Covered Bridge Canyon - Spanish Fork, Utah. She pounded nails, built walls, put in a solid wood floor and many other tasks necessary to build a home. She loved living in a home that she and her husband built with their own hands. Ultimately, the draw of Montana lured them back and they settled in Darby.
Lucile's love for her husband and family is only matched by her love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her family takes comfort in knowing that God's Plan of Happiness provides for family relationships extending throughout eternity. We know we will see her again.
Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Irene Beckstrom; and her brother, Earl Beckstrom. She is survived by her husband, Randle Romney, of Darby; 8 children, Terri (Taud) Olsen of Farmington, UT, Ronda (Martin) Hall of Fairview, UT, Andra (Troy) Ellis of Alpine, UT, Gina (George) Sloan of Albuquerque, NM, Bret (Donna) Romney of Helena, MT, Clint (Jami) Romney of Huson, MT, Kara (Darren) Lewis of Ririe, ID and Dori (Jeff) Humphrey of Corvallis, MT; 2 brothers, Lloyd Beckstrom of Panguitch, UT and Stan (Pat) Beckstrom of Bountiful, UT; 1 sister, Dean (Joe) Woods of Huntington Beach, CA; 43 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
