Ludwig "Ludy" C. Landwehr

CORVALLIS - On May 1, 2013, Ludwig (Ludy) C. Landwehr, age 88, passed away from natural causes in his home with his loving wife by his side.

Ludwig (Ludy) C. Landwehr born March 3, 1925 in Tann, Switzerland near Zurich, the sixth of ten siblings. After completing grade school and high school, he did 4 years apprenticeship including trade school in upholstering. As a young man Ludy got married and had 2 children; son, Ludwig and daughter, Iren. He served in the Swiss Army during the last year of WWII. He was then active in sales for insurance and then hotel restaurant supplies.

After several years and at a riper age he met his wife who lured him over to the United States. Ludy had intended to go to Canada. He traveled for 7 days by the boat, SS Maasdam and arrived on August 20, 1958, becoming a US citizen 5 years later. He married Gertrud (Trudy) Stettler on September 26, 1959 in Calumet City, WI. While in Wisconsin, he learned to speak English when he worked in a hospital for a year before attending Chiropractic School. He continued working in a hospital when in 1960 he entered Western States College of Chiropractic in Portland Oregon and graduated in 1964. Later he took advanced courses and earned a degree in Chiropractic Orthopedics. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 1965 where he opened his own practice, Main West Chiropractic Clinic. In 2000 they moved to their present home in Corvallis, MT. He and his wife attended Conner Wesleyan Church for many years and then Corvallis Community Church which was closer to home.

Ludy was an avid RVer, camper, hiker, backpacker in his younger years, but continued hunting and fishing until his death. He also enjoyed gardening and anything outdoors.

Survivors are his wife, Trudy of Corvallis; 2 children, Ludwig Landwehr and Iren Eichman both of Switzerland; two brothers, Franz and Wilfred both of Switzerland; and two sisters, Theres Kaegi from Switzerland and Margrit Boening from Germany.
