Lynn F. Williams

Born the only child of F.H. and Eunice (Sanders) Williams at home in rural Anselmo, Nebraska.  Lynn graduated from Anselmo High School and attended the University of Nebraska Ag School in Curtis, Nebraska.  He loved playing football and continued playing at the University of Nebraska Kearney.  In 1961, he graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Range Management.  Protecting and conserving public lands was always his passion.  He was employed by the Soil Conservation Service in Nebraska for four years before transferring to the Bureau of Land Management where he spent his career, serving in Colorado, Nevada, Idaho and Utah.

On June 8, 1959, he married Francis (Fran) Nozicka at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska.  Four daughters were born to this union, Kelly, Kaye, Karen and Kathy.

In July 1997, Lynn and Fran moved to the Bitterroot, settling on a small acreage.  He loved the fabulous views and all the quiet space.  He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, NARFE, Amateur Radio Club and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.  A sports fan, he attended many of the local high school games of both the boys and girls.  He loved his family and his dog, Noah, and was an avid reader.  Lynn suffered a multitude of health issues but his powerful spirit always brought him through.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Fran of 57 years, daughters, Kelly Shattuck (James) of Moscow, Idaho and Honolulu, Hawaii, Kaye Kearns (David) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Karen Williams of Portland, Oregon and Kathy Lawson (Glenn) of King George, Virginia; four granddaughters and one grandson, Leilani and Miki Shattuck, Kalhi Kearns, Emily and Max Brinkmann, and of course, Noah.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.  Lunch will follow in the parish center.  Private family urn placement will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bitterroot Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
