Margaret "Maggie" Shulund

Margaret " Maggie " Sramek Shulund was born the 2nd child of Frank and Marjorie Sramek in Lewistown, Mt. on June 6, 1946. Maggie passed away on June 5, 2010 after courageously battling cancer for over a year.
She received her elementary education in a 2 room country school house in Brooks, later moving into Lewistown for Junior High and her freshman year of High School.
She survived by 2 children, Robert Allen Rang ( Brenda) of Bethel, Alaska and Christine Lynnette Schreiner of Salem, Oregon and 5 step-children, Robert Duane Rang ( Susan) of Florida, Doug Shulund (Susan) of Missoula, Montana, Vicki Hoffard ( Cal) of Helena, Montana, Patty Arp ( Phil) of Williston ND, Suzanne Shulund of Ft Lauderdale, Florida. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and also survived by 13 step grandchildren, as well as 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Sramek ( Deborah) Anchorage, Alaska, John Sramek ( Dolores) of Lewistown, Montana; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by both parents; her sister, Rose Mary Henry; and grandson Nicholas Brown.
Her love of music included playing the saxophone with the bitterroot community band, the accordion with the 5 valley accordion association and the piano. She played at public music jams, house jams, senior center dances, and county fairs and for her own entertainment. She shared her love of playing music, camping, and fishing with her husband Chuck Shulund.
Maggie careers included mom, truck driver, bookkeeper, various hospital clerical positions, CNA, and as a Registered Nurse. The last one being the career of her dreams.
Having to drop out of high school at the age of 15, Maggie studied for 3 months to earn her GED in 1976. In 1999, she fulfilled a life time dream by starting her Registered Nurse Education. She graduated from Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, Montana in June 2003 at the young age of 57. Maggie worked at Community Medical Center in Missoula, Montana from October 2003 to April 2009 when she was diagnosed with cancer.
Maggie was married to Roy C Jones of Winifred, Montana from 1961 to 1965; Robert Lewis Rang of Circle, Montana from 1966 to 1987; and Chuck Shulund of Hamilton, Montana from May 14, 1988 until her death.
Her wishes are to be cremated and have the ashes scattered into the wind at Holter Lake so she may become a "free spirit". The dates of ash-scattering will be determined by her family.
A Celebration of Maggie's Life will be held at the United Methodist Church, located at 216 College Street in Stevensville on June 12 at 2pm.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in Maggie's name to American Cancer Association and or 5 valley Accordion Association.
