HAMILTON - Margery F. Long, 86, of Hamilton passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Marcus Daly Hospice and Palliative Care Center. She was born September 22, 1922 in McMinnville, OR the daughter of Francis and Marguerite (Ryan) Hoereth.
- Margery was raised and educated in Salem, OR, graduating from Salem High School in 1940. She marred John A. Long on March 22, 1942 in Salem. Shortly after they were married John enlisted into the US Air Force and they moved to New Mexico for 3 years. Margery and John moved back to Oregon after his discharge from the Air Force and remained there until 1954, at which time they moved to Cloverdale, CA.
- Margery and John own and operated a small engine business in Cloverdale for several years where Margery was the secretary. They moved back to Oregon and then to Montana in 1989. After returning to Oregon again, Margery and John returned back to Montana in 2000.
- Margery was a member of the Methodist Church in Cloverdale for several years where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed singing, fishing, playing cards and traveling around the country in their motor home. Margery also loved just visiting people and she never met a stranger.
- Margery was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John of Hamilton; 3 children, John Long Jr. and wife Edith of California; Cindy Colyer and husband Bill of Australia and Jan Edens and husband Steve of Victor; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
- The family suggests that memorial be made to the Marcus Daly Hospice Endowment Fund, 1200 Westwood Dr, Hamilton, MT 59840.
