Margje Elisabeth Maria House ("Marga" as she was known to all her family and friends) left her earthly body on July 21, 2013 at her home in Hamilton surrounded by those who love her dearly.
Marga was born in The Hague, The Netherlands on April 12, 1942. She emigrated to the United States in 1969 after having spent several years in Australia. Marga was never afraid to move or relocate, enjoying the gift of seeing the world the Lord had created. She lived in California for the first 33 years in the U.S., eventually settling in Tehachapi, a small town she loved where she enjoyed several close friendships and raised her family. In 2002, Marga moved to Hamilton, Montana and once again formed many special friendships. She regarded Hamilton as her permanent home.
Marga was a homemaker, avid gardener, quilter and seamstress. She was always very active in her church congregations regardless of where she lived. Her love for the Lord guided her life. She was a giver, a wonderful neighbor, and friend to many. In Hamilton, Marga also worked at her daughter's boutique "Serendipity Lane" for 5 years. This was one of her favorite pastimes as she met many women she grew to care for.
More than anything, Marga loved her six children and their families. She was a devoted Mother, confidante, mentor and best-friend. She maintained special relationships with all of her children and called them her "Legacy".
In July 2012 after having been blessed with extraordinary health and strength her entire lifetime, Marga was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer. She handled the reality of her terminal illness with grace and dignity while also maintaining the hope for a miracle.
Marga is preceded in death by her parents, George Harting and Mia Lassouw Harting of The Netherlands. Marga is survived by her spouse, David M. House, of Hamilton, Montana; her six children: Monique Todd of Grain Valley, Missouri, Peggy Wheatley of Hamilton, Montana, Dr. Edward N. Harris of Lincoln, Nebraska, Eric J. Harris, Esq. of Redondo Beach, California, Sam G. Harris of Portland, Oregon and U.S. Army Sgt. Ben F. Harris of Killeen, Texas; her childrens spouses: James Todd, Robert Wheatley, Janna Harris, Sarah Harris and Natalie Harris; also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
"Mom, we love you and will miss you, and now have the hard job of carrying on without you. We have peace knowing that you went home and are whole once again in the Lord's embrace."
