Marie Smith Wilson

Marie Smith Wilson, 99 of Hamilton passed away Thursday, August 30th at Valley View Estates Nursing Home in Hamilton.
Marie was born and grew up in Helena, MT. The family lived on Poplar St. and her parents were Ada and Elmer Smith. She had one brother, E.J. Smith. They were sheep rancher for awhile. Marie attended Catholic School with her brother. She received her education there until she left and went to Great Falls to attend a business college. She joined Alpha Iota Sorority that time and became a lime member active for at least 65 years. In 1936, she met Oscar J. Wilson, they both worked at a theater in Great Falls. In March of 1937 they were married and had a daughter Joyce Marie born March 14, 1938. They continued living in Great Falls and working there until they joined Marie's brother in California around 1942. They worked for defense until the war ended in 1945. Around 1951, they moved to the San Fernando Valley where Marie lived and worked until her husband passed in 1976. She returned to San Gabriel Valley until she moved to Hamilton, MT.
In Hamilton she became very active in Saint Francis Parish where she was in many organizations of the parish. She was active with the kids and anything she could do to keep busy. She traveled, read avidly, sewed and maintained her own household even alone until she was 94.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Joyce Faucher of Hamilton; grandchildren, Pam (John) Arnold of MO., Dan (Julie) Faucher of WA., Darcie (Larry) Gentry of KS., and Nicole (Shawn) Martel of ID; 10 great grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mom had and full and interesting life, she will be missed.
