Marilyn Sue Stock

July 18, 1930 — May 14, 2012

Marilyn "Sue" Stock passed away peacefully on May 14, 2012. She had just celebrated Mother's Day with her children, Randy and Nancy.
Sue was born Marilyn Sue Seccombe on July 18, 1930 to William and Hazel Seccombe in Canton, Ohio
She spent her entire early life in Canton and graduated from McKinley High School in 1948. She attended almost all of her high school reunions, the last being the 60th in 2008.
Upon graduation she and a girlfriend took a road trip and moved to Southern California where Sue worked for a period of time at the phone company as an operator.
Sue married Richard "Lou" Stock in 1951. The couple made their home in Newhall, California where Lou worked for the phone company as a splicer after serving in World War II.
The couple had three children: Rand Alan, Nancy Lou and Laurie Sue.
While living in California Sue was very active in the Republican Party. She worked on Ronald Reagan's campaign for Governor and got to personally meet the future President as a result of her work.
Towards the end of the sixties, Lou had the urge to get out of California. He had always dreamed of owning a farm. The family traveled to Colorado in search of land and at the suggestion of a friend decided, in the summer of 1969 to come north to Montana to check things out. Once they hit the Bitterroot Valley, the search was over and a new adventure began for the Stock Family. The farm on Dutch Hill was found and Sue promptly named all of the cows after her friends in California. Portia was always an interesting name for a Holstein! You could find Sue changing the ditch water, riding around on the 3 wheeler all over the ranch. Quite a change for the city girl, and she loved it.
Sue also loved all of the wonderful friends that she made in Montana. While she missed those in
California, the Montana girls became her fast friends for life. They shared child rearing, sporting events, graduations, all of the things that LIFE is made of. Her friends were very dear to her. There are too many to name without fear of forgetting someone, you all know she loved you very much.
Sue was preceded in death by husband Lou in 1982 and daughter Laurie in 1986.
- Sue moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1993 to take care of her mother Hazel Seccombe. Sue worked as a real estate agent while living in Sun City and, once again, made new, wonderful friends whom with she traveled to Japan, Italy, and England where she found a distant cousin who had been knighted! She also went on cruises to the Panama Canal, Alaska, Antilles, and Hawaii.
Survivors include her son Randy of Jerome, Idaho and daughter Nancy of Stevensville, Montana. Her numerous friends will miss her presence and wit dearly. Her children cannot quite believe she's gone.

Special thanks to the small army of caregivers who took such good, loving care of Mom during her illness: Vicky, Debbie, Gracene, Barb, and from Idaho; Nicole, Myra, Patricia and Victor. You treated her as your own and we appreciate everything that you did for her.
To mom's longtime friends and cohorts; Trudy, Verna, Betty, Corky, thank you doesn't cover it; we love you all so much.
The family would like to thank everyone who has called and wished us love and kept us in their prayers. Your thoughts help tremendously.
Mom was a spitfire. She was fond of saying "I have an opinion about everything and I'm happy to share it". She was fiercely independent and always wanted to stand on her own two feet. She stayed that way throughout her entire life. Her spirit lives on, the adventure continues ...
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24th at the Corvallis Cemetery with Pastor Mick Gray officiating. A reception of Pie and Coffee will follow at the Corvallis Methodist Church. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
