Mark William Severns, 59 of Corvallis passed away Saturday morning January 4th, 2014 at Discovery Care.
- He was born October 11, 1954 in Hamilton, MT the son of Bill and Denise Black Severns. He was raised in Corvallis, graduated from Corvallis High School in 1973 and was in the band and chorus. Mark was a Cub Scout, enjoying racing in the Pine Wood Derby, was a Boy Scout and he earned the 50 miler award.
- He attended the Vo-Tech in Missoula and worked for the United States Forest Service. He went with fire crews to Arizona, Washington and Minnesota. In the winter he worked for his Uncle Jim and Grandpa Black, grading potatoes. In 1978, he joined his father helping with Ravalli Motor Freight for 19 years, he was an excellent worker.
- Mark was preceded in death by his father Bill; grandparents, Bill and Frances Severns and Jim and Electa Black.
- Surviving include his mother, Denise of Corvallis, sister, Lyndi Henson of Corvallis and nieces, Jenifer and Michele both of Tucson, AZ and Stephani of Bozeman; sister, Jana (Dan) Poling of Clackamas, OR and nephews, Ben (Carolyn) and Ari both of Portland, OR, Brian (Meghan), Kaleb, Constance, Sunniva, Gwendolyn and Tiernan all of Oak Harbor, WA; uncle, Jim (Annette) Black of Idaho Falls, ID; aunt, Sandy Meuchel of Missoula, MT and numerous cousins.
- Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11th at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton with Pastor Matt Leopold officiating. Private family interment will take place at Corvallis Cemetery. A reception will follow the services in the Daly-Leach Community Room.
- The family suggests memorials be made to the Gideon's or a charity of your choice.
- We would like to thank the Discovery Care personnel and Jim Abrahamson, his social worker for their great care and kindness and the others who took time to visit Mark.
