Marvin E. "Marv" Sperry

CORVALLIS - Marvin E. "Marv" Sperry, 58, of Corvallis passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born March 29, 1955 in Hamilton the son of Orville E. and Lydia (Rall) Sperry.
Marv was raised and educated in Corvallis, graduating from Corvallis High School in 1973. After high school, Marv managed Morris Honey Company for many years and was known as the "Bee Guy". He would be out there working bees, in just cut off shorts and his long hair. Wayne Morris and Marv were always very close and spent many years traveling together bringing bees from California to the Bitterroot Valley. In 1983 Marv began "Marv's Excavating" and continued pushing dirt around the Bitterroot until the time of his passing. Along the way he built many lifelong friendships working for and with people. Marv was known for his quality of work and became known as "Marvelous Marv".
He had a passion for cars, especially his 1966 Chevelle and his 1970 Super Bird, which people recognized all over the valley. He enjoyed pheasant hunting in his younger years with his friends and hunting dogs in Eastern Montana. One of Marv's biggest enjoyments was riding and taking care of his horses, Hopscotch and Oasis. His greatest enjoyment was the love of his life, his daughter, Jamie.
Marv was preceded in death by his father, Orville E. Sperry. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jamie Sperry, of Spokane; his mother, Lydia Sperry of Corvallis; his sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Glen Hakes of Corvallis; 2 nieces, Steffeni and Sylvia; and his nephew, Kevin Hakes.
