Mary Lea Klapwyk

August 4, 1932 — August 27, 2024

Hamilton

Mary Lea Klapwyk, Darby, Montana passed peacefully in her sleep on August 27, 2024 with family by her side. Mary Lea was 92.

Mary Lea was the heart of our family focusing on the education and well-being of her three children while tirelessly ensuring that the family was always ready for adventure. She was married for 60 years to the love of her life Don (82) who preceded her in death.

Mary Lea was known for her kindness, and fun-loving spirit, often being the one to instigate water fights, or snowball fights. Her primary focus was on the education and well-being of her family, but she always found time to play bridge with her friends. She also loved square dancing and flying kites in the field with her children and grandchildren. While she was a lover of fishing, swimming, water skiing and snow skiing, one of her proudest accomplishments was obtaining her Motorcycle endorsement later in life which provided her with the means to explore national forest roads and deliver Oreos and other treats to the Fire lookouts in the area.

Mary Lea is survived by her three children Sandy Abbott (Lee), Pam Hergett (Harvey) and Greg Klapwyk, four grandchildren (Christopher Abbott, Travis Abbott, Kendra Hergett, Justin Hergett) and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their profound gratitude to both the Bee Hive Home in Hamilton and Partners in Homecare -Hospice for their compassionate care and tireless support of our family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
