HAMILTON - Menena Hughes Simmons, 96, of Hamilton passed away Friday, May 09, 2014 at the Discovery Care Centre. She was born February 19, 1918 in Camas, ID the daughter of Asa R. and Agnes M (Jacob) Hughes.
Menena moved to Hamilton in 1926 and attended Hamilton schools. She married Marshall "Dan" Simmons on June 21, 1934 in Missoula and together they had 2 children, Beverly Jean and Marshall Patrick.
Menena was very active in Girl Scouts and in mission work. She enjoyed sewing, golf skiing and traveling.
Menena was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jeannie; and all her siblings. She is survived by her son, Marshall "Pat" Simmons and wife Carole of Federal Way, WA; grandchildren, Brad Thompson of Hamilton, Monte Thompson of Sandy, UT, Dan Thompson and wife Lynette of Spokane, WA, Brian Thompson of Los Angeles, CA and Savannah Anderson and husband Dave of Vancouver, WA; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Discovery Care Centre for the wonderful care they gave Menena. The family suggests that memorial's be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
