Mervin D. Selle, 84, a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away from respiratory disease on April 15, 2011.

Merv was born in Kilgore, Nebraska the oldest of four brothers. The family moved to Sandpoint, Idaho where he lived until he entered the Marine Corps. He served in the occupation forces in Japan where he discovered his knack for numbers. After discharge he attended Idaho State University and majored in accounting. During college he worked summers in Oregon where he met the love of his life Beth Griffin at a pea cannery. They married December 29, 1949. After graduation they moved to Coeur d'Alene where he worked as an accountant for an insurance firm. His son and daughter were born there. In
1964 the family and horses moved to Lolo where he created the mini ranch of his dreams; balancing his accounting career with ranching and his family. Merv loved his Tennessee Walking horses and spent many hours trail riding in the Bitterroots and helping move cattle for friends. He is known for his work with Kiwanis, tumbling pigeons, productive gardens and gorgeous flower beds. After retirement Merv and Beth spent 20 years wintering in Yuma, AZ.

He is survived by his wife Beth, daughter Dana (Bill), son Brady (Cathy), grandchildren Tanna (Jeremy), Brianne, Erin (Matt), Bridget (Travis), Christopher (Sarah), Elizabeth (Joel), and Andrew. Great-grandsons Hunter, Logan, Nathan and one more arriving in May. Also by his brother Jacque (Eva Lou), nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and family.

For those of you who knew him as Mervin Darling, the D actually stands for Darle, but he will always be darling in our hearts.
