Michael Gerard Trautman

Michael G. Trautman, 74, of Hamilton died Friday, May 9, 2025 the result of a plane accident at Big Creek landing strip in Idaho backcountry. He died doing what he loved. He was born August 7, 1950 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri the son of Gerald and Norma Trautman.

Mike grew up in the rolling hills of Missouri and moved with his family in 1984 to the mountains of Montana which he loved. Mike never liked conventional sports but had a love for the outdoor sports like hunting and fishing which he passed down to his kids and grandkids. He had many talents:taxidermist, carpenter, pilot, and could fix anything.

Mike married Judy Ann Kertz August 4, 1972. He is survived by his wife Judy Trautman; his son Daniel Trautman (Stephanie) and daughter Krissy Sims (Matt); and grandchildren Logan Trautman, Brant Trautman, Isaac Sims, and Abby Sims all of Spokane. Mike was the oldest of 8 children. The siblings are Randy Trautman (Susan), Marian Hoeflinger (Larry), Susan Kerlick (Kevin) of St. Louis, Missouri, Mark Trautman (Kathy), Jeff Trautman (Debbie), Tim Trautman (Shannon) of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, and Kevin Trautman of Amory, Mississippi. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 2:00 pm at Daly Leach Chapel with a reception to follow at Daly Leach community room.
