CORVALLIS - Mildred (Milly) Allaway, 92, of Corvallis passed away of natural causes on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center. She was born May 15, 1920 in Castle Rock, WA the daughter of Henry and Ethel Wend.
Milly's career was diversified; she cooked at Camp MiVoden Youth Camp, spent many years serving the Navajo Indians as a book keeper at a small hospital in Monument Valley, UT, and taught grades 1-4 at LaVida Mission in Farmington, NM. Milly retired in 1985 as cashier for the Adventist Medical Center in Portland, OR.
She enjoyed numerous hobbies including quilt making, crocheting, cooking, photography, travel, reading and her grandchildren. She was active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church working many years in the children's departments and as church treasurer.
Milly was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ethel Wend; sister, Lillian Emerson; and husbands, David Fowler, Ken Farnsworth and Charles Allaway. She is survived by her brother, Charles Wend and wife Margaret of Twain Harte, CA; daughter, Joanne Jones of Corvallis, MT; daughter, Billie Jean Fester and husband Elvin of Leduc, Alberta; daughter, Judy Fowler of Corvallis, MT; son, James Fowler of Corvallis, MT; seven grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Milly's passing is a great loss to family and friends but they anxiously await the day when their Lord returns and calls the faithful from their graves and they can enjoy being together again for all eternity.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Milly's name be made to Blodgett View Christian School, 119 W. Bridge Road, Hamilton. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
