HAMILTON - Mildred A. (Millie) Moliter, 90, of Hamilton, MT, passed away on September 26, 2010 at Discovery Care Center of heart failure. She was born December 23, 1919 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Francis and Clara Bumann Stoltenberg.
Millie was raised on a farm in Swan Valley, Idaho where her parents and large family grew enough crops and livestock to provide for most of their needs even through the Great Depression. Millie and her siblings attended a one room school through the 8th grade. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1938. Millie was a good student and decided to go to Spokane, WA to pursue a nursing career. She graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1942 and married Harry Moliter in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho on September 26, 1942.
During their 24 year marriage they raised four children. Harry died in 1966. Millie was an R.N. on the night shift at Sacred Heart Hospital for over 25 years and became an Assistant Director of Nursing. She loved nursing in spite of the stress and low salaries of the time. After living in Spokane for 40 years she moved to Superior, MT and Idaho Falls for a few years to help care for family members. She then settled in Hamilton for retirement in 1983.
She enjoyed her activities and new friends in Hamilton, and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Hamilton Senior Center. She lived happily at Sapphire Lutheran Homes for many years. Millie liked to play cards, travel, read and do needlework. She also loved to shop, storing up gifts to give for Christmas and birthdays. She was known for her friendly personality and sense of humor.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband Harry, her parents Francis and Clara, her brothers Eldon, Leslie, and Eugene Stoltenberg, her sister Marie Stock and her son-in-law Dr. George Greener. She is survived by brothers Herbert, Harvey, and Ronald Stoltenberg and sisters Lois Wold and Ramona Prophet and many nieces and nephews. She had a special bond with her nephew Earl Montee and his wife Floy Ann. She is also survived by daughters Kathleen (Pat) Vaughan of Hamilton, Laurene (Ron) Chaney of Hamilton, and Kristine (Mike) Franklin of West Richland, WA , son Ray(Cindy) Moliter of Chandler, AZ, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
