Mildred T. Soll

Hamilton - Mildred T. Soll, 93 of Hamilton entered into the arms of our heavenly father on July 3, 2010 at her home.
Mildred (Taylor) Soll was born April 25, 1917 at Polson, MT to Dr. Carl B. and Ivy Lee (Davidson) Taylor. The family moved two years later to Dillon, MT where Mildred grew up and graduated from Montana State Normal College (now UM Western) in 1936. She taught at Montana State Training School in Boulder and in East Helena.
She married Herman Soll in San Louis Obispo, CA, July 26, 1941. At the time, Herman was stationed there while serving in the U.S. Army. The couple lived for a year in Helena before moving to Missoula where they lived for 26 years. During this time, Mildred worked as bookkeeper at several businesses and two children were born, Wayne and Sandra. The family moved to Hamilton in 1969 opening Soll Appliance, selling and servicing large home appliances, and a coin-laundry, retiring in 1978. The family enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV, and especially rock hounding. Mildred was an accomplished faceter of gemstones, and loved polishing the lucky finds. Mildred and Herman were instrumental in starting the Bitterroot Gem and Mineral Soc. In 1981, and remained active members.
Mildred was a member of the Methodist-Baptist Church in Hamilton, a 50 year member of the PEO chapter BC, Hamilton Senior Center, Golden Age Club, Bitterroot Gem and Mineral Soc. She was a lifetime member of the Hellgate Mineral Soc of Missoula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herman Soll, and her sister Mary Lou Hilden.
Surviving are her son, Wayne Soll and daughter Sandra (Lane) Cowart all of Missoula, grandson, Staff Sergeant Nathan (Lee Anna) Wall of Fairchild AFB, Spokane, WA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to MDM Hospice of the Bitterroot, Bitterroot Gem and Mineral Society, PEO scholarship program for continuing Education or the Hamilton Senior Center.
