"Monty" Montana Hearold Kamps

‘Monty’ Montana Hearold Kamps, 92, of Hamilton, MT, passed away October 24, 2016. Monty was born January 22, 1924, to Alfred ‘Fred’ Fredrick Wilhelm Mahler and Mary Agnes (Saunders) Kamps in Armstead, Montana. He spent most of his younger years in the Dillon area where he attended school.

Monty was a corpsman in the Army during WWII. When he came home, he met and married the love of his life, Nancy ‘June’ Waldemar, March 15, 1947. After a number of moves they raised their four children in the Anaconda and Helena area. They later served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines.

In addition to his parents, Monty was preceded in death by his four brothers, Alfred LeRoy, Arthur Franklyn, Bert Allen, Emil Leonard, one sister, Ida Mary Arnold, and one grandson, Christopher Clarence Savik. He is survived by his wife June; son, Monte Leonard (Nancy Gayle ‘Jayne’) of Darby, MT; daughters, Linda June (Ron) Curdy of Hamilton, MT; Wendy Faye (Marlen) Savik of Springville, UT; Julie Anne (Brad) Lee of Hendersonville, TN. Survivors also include 13 grandchildren, Scott (Charlotte) Richards, David (Jana) Richards, Monte P. Kamps, Lori (Dan) Ell, Ryan (Meagan) Savik, Jennifer (Trent) Uresk, Angela (Dan) Hansen, Julie (Kyle) Rawle, Jerrilyn (Dustin) Elliott, Kameron (Jessica) Savik, Steven (Erin) Lee, Michael (Cay Anne Pepper) Lee, Carrie Tomlin; 11 step-grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandson and numerous nieces, nephews, step-great grandchildren, and step-great great grandchildren.

The family is deeply grateful for the special, loving care Montana ‘Monty’ received from BeeHive Homes.  He loved it there.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 401 N. 8th Street in Hamilton. Interment will be in Missoula at 11 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Veterans Cemetery, 1911 Tower St.
