STEVENSVILLE -
Myron Edward Amsden was born March 14, 1944 in Great Falls Montana to Flora and Edward Amsden. At an early age they moved to Gallatin Gateway. Myron and his brother Bruce grew up working with horses and helping their father in the logging industry. Many of Myron’s favorite memories were going to High School making friends for life. He excelled in football and wrestling, becoming All-State champion. Myron attended Montana State, played football and graduated with a degree.
In 1964 Myron joined the Army, learned to parachute and was shipped off to Vietnam Nam. After Vietnam Nam, Myron came home to Bozeman to start his family with Mary Jane. They had two daughters Cindy and Jaynie.
Myron embarked on several jobs and eventually started his career with Circle K. He moved to Boise, Idaho for a promotion and continued to excel and became Division Manger over 6 states.
Myron became very involved in the horse world. Cindy and Jaynie rode for EH-CAPA Bareback riders with Myrons support and encouragement. From that point on Myron was never without a horse. Most importantly, he enjoyed riding horses with his daughters.
Myron married Debbie Schneider and acquired a new daughter Jennifer. Shortly thereafter he decided to go to farrier school and become a farrier and horse trainer. He excelled at both and continued this career for the rest of his life.
He lived in Star Idaho for over 30 years building bigger and better horse facility's.
While living in Star he helped incorporate the city of Star and was appointed to position of councilman by the governor. He was a lifetime member of Western Riding Club, camping, teaching and helping people with their horse dreams. He had great memories and made friends for life. Myron with Debbie became very involved with the Idaho Horse Council and Idaho Horse Expo and The Farriers Guild of Idaho. Myron loved to show his skills as a horseman, mentor young trainers, and help new riders acquire their dreams of becoming a horseman
Myron and Debbie decided to return to wonderful Montana for a new start at 75.
What a adventure that was and he never looked back. The week before Myron died, at 81, he was still shoeing and trimming horses, irrigating, and training his last horse, Scooter.
Myron was a remarkable man, loving, passionate, caring, funny, brilliant, charismatic, so very handsome and could fix anything. Horses were his life, his passion, his joy and addiction. Myron and Debbie built a community where ever they lived. Together for every adventure, they were the couple that everyone wanted to be. They were unstoppable, and lifted those around them to be a better person. It is hard to imagine a world without someone so full of life and love. Big or small, every animal was loved by this tender man. Every person he encountered was better for knowing him.
Myron leaves his wife Debbie, his daughters Cindy Amsden, Jaynie Horton (Jack ) and Jennifer Schneider (Justin), four utterly amazing grand children Siera, Cortland, Ryland, William Hadley and his brother Bruce Amsden, along with extended family.
His funeral service will be on July 25th at 1pm at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Missoula, MT. A celebration of life will be at Debbie and Myron’s home at 3pm the same day.
