Nancy Joan Clark

July 5, 1936 — December 23, 2024

Hamilton

Nancy Joan Clark (Nanne), 88, of Hamilton passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 at Bitterroot Health Hospital in Hamilton. Nancy was born a twin on July 5th, 1936, in Essex, Iowa, the daughter of Stella Tornquist Youngbreg and Gerald August Youngberg.

Raised a farm girl her whole life in Essex, Iowa, her independent nature called her to a different life when she moved after high school to attend, what was then, Montana State College in Bozeman, Montana. While attending college, she met her future husband Lloyd M. Clark. They both graduated with teaching degrees, wed soon after graduation, and started their teaching careers in Red Lodge, Montana. While in Red Lodge, their daughter Laura was born. It was at that time Nancy decided she would be a stay-at-home mom to raise her new daughter. Soon after, their careers took them to Sunburst, Montana, where their son Roger was born. The final move was to Hamilton, Montana where they became established as great community members and enjoyed every day building relationships to continue their life in the community.

Later in life, after the children were raised, Nancy went back to work as a postal worker, first in Corvallis, Montana, then elevating herself to the Post Master job in Trout Creek, Montana, finally retiring in 1984.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd M. Clark, brother Richard Youngberg, and her 3-year old twin sister Patsy.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Ehli (Ron), Roger Clark (Peggy), three grandsons, Jesse Ehli, Adam Ehli, Jeffrey Clark, 6 great grandsons, in addition to nieces and nephews from her brother Richard. It was her grandchildren that gave her the nickname "Nanne".

After 60 years of marriage and the death of her husband Lloyd, she found friendship with a mutual acquaintance of Nancy and Lloyd's from their college days, in a true gentleman named Dunc Stewart of Corvallis. Their friendship lasted to her last day, both stating they were best friends!!

Always strong-willed and independent, she was going to live and enjoy her life the way she wanted. 5:00 O'clock with Fox News, a cold beer, and a non-filtered ciggy. What more can you ask for at the latter part of your life, and nobody was going to tell her anything different.

She was an amazing wife, friend, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be remembered and loved as such. As per her wishes, no services will be held. Her final wish was to have her family get together and hug her great-grandchildren one more time from Nanne!!!

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any donations to the Bitterroot Health Foundation, 1200 Westwood Drive, Hamilton, MT 59840
