Ora Lee Wood

January 31, 1915 — February 4, 2013

CORVALLIS - Ora Lee Wood, 98, of Corvallis went to be with the Lord Monday, February 4, 2013, with family present and the hope and knowledge that we will one day be together again. She was born January 31, 1915 at Mangum, OK to John O. and Lillie M. Jones.

When she was young the family moved to Curvo, N.M. in a covered wagon where they homesteaded a farm. On Sept. 1, 1934, she married Larkin Calhoun Wood in Las Vegas, N.M. Together they lived in Santa Rosa, then near the air bases in Roswell and Clovis, N.M., La Junta, CO, and Los Alamos, N.M. where Larkin work as a welder. They loved to fish and hunt, first in New Mexico then in Montana.

After the war they moved to Victor, MT and in 1948 the family moved to Corvallis where Ora Lee worked the family farm and loved and taught the children to do many things.

She was a member of the Corvallis Garden Club and a leader in the Clover Leaf 4-H club, that she helped start. She had a wonderful garden each year and was known through out the valley for her winter squash and the loom rag rugs that she made and sold. Ora Lee was a member of the Baptist church and taught Sunday school at the Victor church.

Ora Lee was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one daughter, Clora Francil; and seven sisters, Olga Morris, Ola Yates, Vivian Priddy, Oma (Jackie) Brown, Mrytle Boydstun, Oleta (Billie) Starritt and Mary Horn; and four brothers, Arda, Arla, Cecil and John Jones.

She leaves behind one son, Delbert (Ginni) Wood; daughters, Ora Mae (Dave) Mabbott, Betty Jean (Nolan) McCauley, Ruby (Joe) Berry, Ruth (Dan) Thorn and Della Wood; 1 sister, Katy Reeves; eight grandchildren, Douglee, Bobbie, Barbara, Derrick, Dusty, Doris, Jenny and Sheena; nine great-grandchildren: Amanda, Kadin, Kaylee, Cassandra, Joshua, Kayle, Taylor, Brianna and Randee; and one great-great-grandson, Patrick Lee McCauley .
