HAMILTON - Patrick Alexander Egan Morin, 27, of Hamilton, MT and Austin, TX, passed away on March 17, 2015 at Marcus Daily Hospice Center. Son of Pete and Sara Morin, he was born April 26, 1987 in Lincoln, NE.
He was an easy going child from the start, with a sunny disposition and a love for being "outside". From the first time he put his hands on a toy car, he loved anything with wheels. He attended 2 years of school in Cary, NC then moved to Richland, MI where he completed the majority of his education. He was a creative and artistic individual who loved to draw, learned to play the piano and played trombone through high school. He loved being with his friends, riding his bike and skate boarding. He enjoyed many years of tae kwon do and was active in the Boy Scouts of America. His time in scouting sparked his interest in an automotive career. Patrick earned the rank of Eagle Scout in January 2004. During his junior year, his family moved to Hamilton, MT. He graduated Hamilton H.S. in 2005. He attended WyoTech in Laramie, WY, where he graduated in 2006, earning a diploma in Chassis Fabrication and High Performance Engines with Automotive Technology.
He worked in the Bitterroot Valley and Missoula for several years before moving to Austin, TX. His favorite job, by far, was working for "T" at Capitol Chevrolet as a certified Service Technician. Each year he looked forward to working for Jery pouring beer with his buddies, at the "Old Settlers Music Festival" in Austin. He was passionate about skiing, enjoyed Frisbee golf, playing pool, watching hockey and enjoying life with his friends at Twin Peaks. He loved working on cars, being an auto-mechanic and watching nearly any kind of race at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA).
One of his favorite 3-word phrases was "It's Race Day!" Patrick had an infectious smile, an outstanding warm hug and was a loyal friend. With his easy-going manner and great sense of humor, he could easily bring a room to laughter. He loved keeping life simple and had few needs: the love of his family, time spent with good friends and tickets to a race at COTA.
As he reached his final lap in this life, he revved his engine, grabbed second gear and gave it his all. He remained so positive throughout his treatment and appreciated the care he received from his doctors and nurses. When the checkered flag came out, he finished the race with an incredible spirit and just drifted it around the corner. The roar of the crowd must have been amazing. True to his sense of style, he left us on St. Patrick's Day at 12 noon. We are so grateful for the 4 months we had with him at home and offer our special thanks to Dr. Linda Ries and staff at the Montana Cancer Center, University Medical Center-Brackenridge and the caring staff at Marcus Daly Hospice.
